Once Upon a Time in 2012, I was somewhere in Delta State University, Oleh
campus, Nigeria. The year was going smoothly until I encountered Engr Okpeki.
Engr Okpeki is a tall, huge and fierce looking man. Only his presence terrifies. He
was the lecturer that took me Computer Programming.
I heard about him the year before. How difficult him and his course is and how
a lot of students usually fail his course.
I was already terrified, I already failed the course a thousand times before
meeting Engr Okpeki.
I started reading the course before his first class, I was aided by past students
notes, past question papers and the internet. I wanted to be exempted, I want
to make an A while others may fail.
I lost count of how many times I read the course material back to back. I
worked hard, I read a lot because I was so scared of Engr Okpeki.
Then came a fateful day, a day to the examination, a day to the D day. It was a
day I'll not forget in a hurry. I started reading Engr Okpeki by 8pm that night. I
read throughout the night. Then finally by 5:30am I closed the book because
my head was hot and saturated with the course. I can quote the entire course
material back to back. I took a little nap and head straight to the examination
hall like a brilliant student going to collect his award as the best student.
I refused greeting anyone on my way, I avoided any friendly conversation
because my focus is on the course and I don't want to be distracted.
The worst happened when I was given the question paper. It was like my brain
was formatted. I was totally blank. I assumed my village people followed me
that very day, for I couldn't even spell "IS".
After the examination I knew I have already failed the course. But grace help me
and I manage to scape through.
This is exactly what happens to a lot of people in real world. They failed
because they are terrified.
So many has already failed before the beginning.
They are so scared of life.
What if I become poor?
What if I'm barren? (Not yet married ooo)
What if I couldn't graduate?
What if this vehicle get into an accident?
What if no man or woman agrees to marry me?
They work hard, spend less and save more for the raining day.
Who said there must be a raining day?
Do your best today and expect the best tomorrow.
No matter how hard you work, if your motivation is fear or you are always
expecting the worse then you will never genuinely succeed in life.
You just need 3 steps to become successful
# Think about success always
# Work towards success and
# EXPECT Success
# greatness
